Stephen Dixon LLB (Hons)

Stephen is one of the Partners in our commercial team and heads up the Sheffield office.  He specialises in resolution of business disputes and employment issues.

Stephen worked in commercial finance before becoming a lawyer.  He was a Partner in a successful commercial firm before joining Handley Brown.  He prides himself on building strong relationships with clients and always putting commercial objectives at the centre of any solution, not just giving legal answers.

Dispute Resolution – Stephen has substantial experience of complex, commercial disputes (professional negligence, fraud/secret profit and business interruption claims, intellectual property issues, shareholder/board room disputes, and commercial property) within a variety of business sectors, particularly construction and engineering, as well as IT/Telecoms, printing industry, and financial services.  Stephen has also acted for Premier League and Championship football clubs, players and managers.

Employment – Stephen handles civil actions to bring and defend restrictive covenant claims as well as Employment Tribunal work for commercial clients or claims by senior executives.  He advises on removal of senior executives, business restructuring, and redundancies.  Stephen is also a strong advocate, dealing with unfair dismissal and redundancy claims, contractual disputes, and discrimination cases (sex, disability and sexual orientation).

Clients like his straight talking, no-nonsense, practical approach and find him easy to get on with.  He is a fierce opponent where required, but otherwise co-operates to get the best result for clients in the shortest possible time, at the least cost.  Most of all Stephen understands his clients and their needs, delivering the right solution to suit.
